Created in Japan in 1996 by Yuko Yamashita the YUKO hair straightening system penetrates deep into the cortex to create a long lasting, straight, smooth and sleek result for nearly all hair types.
Originally designed to help make typically coarse and thick Japanese hair easier to manage this is the original thermal straightening treatment. The patented YUKO formula utilizes collagen, keratin and silk proteins which penetrate the hair shaft to leave the hair unbelievably soft, manageable and easy to manage.
Taylor Taylor London is one of just a handful of London hair salons that are trained in the specialist YUKO system and we insist on a full complimentary consultation before we begin any treatments. During this session we will assess your hair type and discuss your exact treatment based on hair type, length and thickness.
Expect to be in our chair for at least 4 to 5 hours but after that the YUKO treatment means that you can genuinely just “blast and go” and achieve perfectly straight hair for between 5 and 8 months.

Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Can anyone use the Yuko treatment ?
Yuko can be applied to any hair type including naturally very curly hair. However, it is unsuitable for most afro-carribbean hair. If you are unsure please come in and see us for a complimentary consultation.
Do I need to have a certain length of hair to receive Yuko treatment?
We recommend that Yuko should be applied to hair once it is 15 cm or longer.
How long does the whole Yuko Treatment process take?
Yuko takes between four and six hours and depends on the thickness of your hair, length and responsiveness to the treatment. Please note that after your treatment it is highly likely that your previous haircut will be be uneven so we do recommended that clients have a haircut during the Yuko process as your hair may require a new style.
Do I need to have a consultation?
A consultation is required for every new clients and for those who have had the treatment done at other salons. This is to ensure your hair is in the required condition for the treatment.
Can I have Yuko treatment and colour at the same time?
We don’t recommend applying Yuko and colour at the same time. We recommend colouring your hair at least two weeks after the Yuko process to prevent over processing.
Can I colour my hair before Yuko?
You may colour your hair two to three weeks prior to the Yuko treatment, but it is important to note that the Yuko technique does fade colour slightly. Unfortunately we are unable to treat hair that has been bleached or has a high lift tint.
I have used other hair-straightening systems before. Can I still try Yuko?
Applying Yuko will work in conjunction with most other straightening treatments, but the process may not work properly on badly damaged hair, especially as a result of an LYE-based relaxer. If in doubt please come and see us for a complimentary consultation.
Will my hair always be flat?
For the first week or so the hair will be very smooth all over, but the hair does settle and the roots will restore their natural volume gradually. How long this takes will vary depending on thickness and the intensity of your curl.
How long will the effects of Yuko last?
The hair that is subjected to Yuko treatment will remain straight almost permanently. However, natural re-growth at the root will maintain its' original curly or wavy texture. We recommend that you come into the salon to have re-growth treated every five to eight months, but the exact interval will vary depending on the degree of curl and hair growth.
Will there be prolonged damage to my hair if I do the Yuko treatment at regular intervals?
Any chemical process will damage hair to a degree, but Yuko is primarily protein based and helps to reconstruct the hair whilst minimising damage.
Will I need to use special hair care products after using Yuko ?
There are no special aftercare products required after the Yuko process. But to fully optimise the condition please consult with your specialist.
Can I use Yuko with bleached or highlighted hair.
We would not treat clients with this type of hair as the Yuko system is not compatible we would suggest that the Brazilian Blowout would be a much better solution for someone with over processed or highlighted hair as it actively de-frizzes and creates a protective layer around the hair shaft.
How much does a Yuko re-growth treatment cost?
Unfortunatley we cannot offer reduced rates on straightening any regrowth. This is primarily based on the time that it takes to apply and process the treatment
Can I use the Yuko treatment if I have had a Brazilian treatment ?
Yes, and if you wish after three months of the Yuko straightening treatment the Brazilian Blowout is a great way to maintain the condition of the hair. Another Yuko treatment can be undergone after six months.
